We are really pleased to announce another funder which has stepped forward to support the Junior rowing team; this came about following the Woodfines Solicitors Business Lunch giving rise to a connection with The Gale Family Trust, a Bedfordshire county charity.
Having outlined what the Junior team was aiming to achieve including bringing rowing to young people who might not otherwise have the chance to get involved, plus all the other benefits for those young people from being involved in competitive sport with all the right coaching around self discipline, personal responsibility and not least self esteem, The Gale Family Trust have offered to support the programme for the coming year. Russell Beard, a Trustee of the Charity said, ‘Part of the remit of The Gale Family Trust is support children and young people plus education and training via grants to organisations, and other charities and voluntary bodies which all fits with the Junior programme aims perfectly.’
Head Coach Mark Bavington spoke about his thrill at the grant, ‘It is absolutely brilliant to get this sort of support and recognition for the work we are doing at Star Club and also quite humbling. I see it as an investment in the future of the young people I coach and not least a sign of faith in what we are all striving to achieve at the Club – having The Gale Family Trust join the crew is fantastic!’
The very least we can do is offer a big thank you to the Trustees for their support and as the season progresses through 2014 we hope to see them on the riverbank so our Juniors can say thank you in person – in the meantime you will see the name of the Trust on the Junior website and on our eletter from now on.
